ON THIS DAY - 14th October
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | October 14, 2023
In 1950, LAURIE COOPER (#2), Waratahs earliest all rounder, took 8-11 for A-Res grade v Uralla. It is the earliest bowling record in club history. It would remain the best bowling by a Waratahs player for 12 years.
In 1961, DON FOSTER (#155) took 10-43 (5-31 & 5-12) for B grade as Easts avoided losing outright in a day by just one wicket. It was the start of a season in which he would take 141 wickets - a club and Association, all grades record. Wicketkeeper Stuart Stanley made 3 dismissals in Easts second innings. Bowling at the other end, Geoff Marshall took 4 wickets in each innings for match figures of 8-16.

In 1989, MARK DYMOCK (#523) and ROGER ROAN (#176) added 142 for the 5th wicket for 3rd grade v Hillgrove. DYMOCK made 118 and saw his side almost to safety in the fading light. It was Dymo’s second century in seven days and after Waratahs were 4-1 at the end of the second over!
