In 1956, TONY MORRISS (#78) bagged a pair for B grade v Armidale Teachers College. He was part of a string of Waratahs first innings wickets that saw them go from 0-33 to all out for 44. Opposition bowler J Ward took 7-7 including a double hat trick!

In 1962, TERRY MACKENZIE (#54) took a hat trick for A grade as University crashed twice on the second afternoon to lose by an innings and 204 runs - the biggest Waratahs winning margin in A grade.
Meanwhile, GEOFF MARSHALL (#156) and GEOFF MacDONALD (#168) ran amok in B grade v YCW. MacDonald made 64 and took 10-43 (3-28 & 7-15) whilst Marshall's share was 36 & 51 and 5-66. YCW were crushed by 137 runs. It was a season long tour de force by the two Geoffs. Nearly sixty years later, their common first names and stereo performances would be the inspirational starting point for a play by Peter Langston which came to the stage in 2017.
Waratahs 160 (Geoff McDonald 64, Geoff Marshall 36. G Brennan 5-36) and 155 (Mick Halpin 61, Geoff Marshall 51. P Mowle 5-79); YCW 127 (Geoff Marshall 5-66, Geoff McDonald 3-28) and 51 (Geoff McDonald 7-15)
In 1979, GRAHAM JOHNSON (#207) bagged his only career pair, twice victim to Jan Moerkoerke as A grade battled their way to a first innings win against YCW at Harris Park. It was a match of low scores and legend. ROGER SATTLER (#378) took a career best 6-20 in YCW's 35, bowling unchanged with the new ball with Rene Mullen. Waratahs scraped to first innings points with the last pair, Brian Joice and Paul Lee at the crease after Skipper Johnno issued instructions to Joicey to push for singles at 9-33 in order to secure the points. Joicey hit the next ball two thirds of the way up onto the Harris Park hill. Neither side faired better in their second digs, Shakes Mullen taking 6-41 and Satts holding 3 catches as Waratahs limped home with just the first innings points. Michael Connolly top scored in both innings with 10 & 4.
