In 1953, S MACKIE (#33) almost scored the first Waratahs century when he was dismissed for 99 for A grade v Uralla. He shared a partnership of 102 with G FERRIS (#25) as Waratahs thrashed a seven player Uralla by an innings. LAURIE COOPER (#2) held 3 catches in Uralla's second dig.

In 1970, ALLAN SMITH (#124) made a pair for A grade v the unstoppable Ex Services, batting at three and bowled by Ian McLean in both innings of a game Waratahs surrendered with a first day 32.

In 1976, BRIAN MAIR (#307) returned his best Waratahs bowling figures with 12-59 (6-41 & 6-18) for A-Reserve grade v YCW, in the season before his first grade debut.


In 1981, GLEN SCHAEFER (#373) had his best game for Waratahs, scoring 118 of 198 & 33 of 8-84 and taking 4-68 and a catch in B grade's two wicket win v St Kilda.

In 1987, MARK HEMMY (#501) made his sole hundred for Waratahs, 113 not out for 2nd grade v Hillgrove. David Tilbury was next highest scorer with 14 in Waratahs 7-184 in a one day game lost to Hillgrove.

Favourite bat: The one that scored the most.

Most memorable moment in cricket:
1952-53 A grade Final, beating Easts 2 outright after our worst A/1st grade total in the sixty year history of the club. Beat the very strong Uralla in the last round to just scrape into the semis and then Easts 1 in the Semi. Played one player short on the first day after a mix up with team sheets and made 163 in the sunshine, Ross Ridley 59. Easts 0-57 at stumps after four dropped catches. Didn't play the second day for two weeks because of the Armidale Show and then after four days of heavy rain. Wicket now a sticky and impossible to bat on. Easts all out for 95, Don Paul 6-24. Batting a second time, Waratahs still one short and Ridley now out injured, all out for 21. Easts needing 90 don't make it to halfway, all out for 43, Don Paul 7-20. Waratahs win their first premiership in only their third season.
