On This Day - 8th March
Armidale Waratahs (The Tahs) | March 09, 2024
In 1969, BILL THOMPSON (#185) made 106 in a hurry allowing Waratahs to declare in front after the first day of their A grade match after TAS had done well to reach 170 against Waratahs star pace attack. Brian Joice, in the day, as hostile as any paceman Armidale has seen, took 6-54. More on this game on the 15th.
In 1975, BRIAN JOICE (#218) took 7-41 for A-Res grade v Unit Vets.
In 1980, MICHAEL CONNOLLY (#293) and GRAHAM JOHNSON (#207) added 116 for the 4th wicket for A grade v Easts, after a clatter of early wickets.

In 1986, TIM MULDOON (#296) became the sixth and last player to make at least fifty in each innings of a match, when he made 61 in the second innings for 1st grade v Hillgrove, after making 99 in the first. Also of note: Hillgrove wicketkeeper Warwick Browne made 8 dismissals in the match.

Players to Make Fifty or More In Both Innings
In 2nd grade, GRAHAM JOHNSON (#207) made 113 v TAS and 3rd grade, TIM BINDLEY (#393 - pictured) bowled a heroic 25 overs, taking 7-82 as Hillgrove won outright. For Hillgrove, Harry Browne made a ton, making it a good day for father and son.
