September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Cooper Rice-Brading Foundation is shining the spotlight on young people living with cancer, and in particular sarcoma.
Lives are changed irreversibly in the blink of an eye, as sarcoma hits our young disproportionately hard.
We thank the following well known Australians who joined CRBF to focus on our young, and the loss of potential, hopes and dreams that often accompany a sarcoma diagnosis.
Michael “Wippa” Wipfli - Radio and TV Personality/ CRBF ambassador
Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald - AFL footballer/Radio and TV personality
Heather Mitchell AM - Acclaimed Australian actor
Suzie Miller - International playwright, librettist and screenwriter
Nathan Lyon – Aus international cricketer
Peter Overton - Aus media identity
Baxter Holt - Aus Cricketer/CRBF Ambassador
Ben Donaldson - Australian Wallabies Rugby Union fullback
Thomas Yassmin - Utah College football star/2023 NFL draft
Amy Parmenter - Aus Netballer/Founder of The Tie Dye Project
Angus Crichton - Aus Professional Rugby League Footballer and Founder First People Project
Each of these remarkable individuals lent their time and impactful stories to this campaign which asks the question, “What if they never had the chance?
Encouraging us to consider the young people whose hopes and dreams are savagely taken by sarcoma.
Special thanks to the uber talented Amy Shark for the use of her iconic track "I said hi", written about "overcoming adversity and the struggles we face…. “ An anthem for anyone who is waking up every day fighting …”.
We express our deepest gratitude to the outstanding team Nova 969 for providing the filming studio and the exceptionally talented team at Synergy Group, Jason Perelson and Liam Newton whose artistic direction was invaluable in bringing this campaign to life, together with Mitch O’Connor from Quantumhaus for his amazing work behind the camera
What can you do? It’s as simple as sharing this video with your network and tagging us to start the conversation. Awareness may result in early diagnosis and better outcomes. Awareness also creates the funding required for impactful research projects which will eventually lead to cure.
Don’t let sarcoma end the story…
