The Coaches' Association (HKHDCCA) congratulates Lachlan Shaw on his Cricket NSW selection

Coaches Association HKHDCCA | November 21, 2024

The Coaches' Association (HKHDCCA) congratulates Lachlan Shaw (age 21) on his Cricket NSW Blues List A (one-day) debut (cap #204) and Sheffield Shield (First Class) debut (Baggy Blue #771) against South Australia in Adelaide in November 2024. Lachy scored an impressive 27 runs in the Shield match in a promising sign of things to come, in NSW’s victory by an innings.

Lachy played junior cricket in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills District Cricket Association club and rep. competitions, and attended many Coaches' Association school holiday cricket clinics and off-season development programs from age 7 – 13, winning our prestigious Phillip Hughes Medal in January 2015. Lachy now coaches at our school holiday clinics when he can fit it in his busy cricket schedule, and bats in our MasterClass sessions.

He starred in the HK&HDCA U/15 Ross Turner Cup and U/13 Glenn Hourigan Cup fixtures, which are organised by the Coaches' Association. In his last RTC match at Turramurra Oval in September 2017, he was captain of the West team and scored a record 131 runs.

Lachy was a member of the Coaches' Association / Northern District Cricket Club U/15 touring team to Sri Lanka in 2015, and captain in Barbados, West Indies in 2017, where he scored 100 not out in the last match against the Franklyn Stephenson Academy.

Lachy played in the Cricket NSW under age teams and scored 112* for the Metro Sixers in the U/17 State Challenge in Coffs Harbour in August 2019.

In Jan. / Feb. 2022, Lachy played for Cricket Australia in the ICC - International Cricket Council U/19 World Cup tournament in the West Indies, top scoring with 51 runs in the semi-final against India.

Former Head Coach of the Coaches' Association, Rod Hokin, played a key role in Lachy’s development as a cricketer, as he coached him at The King's School, on overseas tours, and privately.

Lachy was the Captain of the NSW CIS cricket team in 2019 and 2020, and Captain of the NSW U/19 team at the National Championships in 2021.

In March 2019, Lachy scored 200 for the King's 1st XI against Shore in the GPS cricket competition.

Lachy scored his maiden First Grade century (107) for Northern District Cricket Club against Hawkesbury Cricket Club in September 2020 in only his second Belvidere Cup appearance, becoming the youngest batter (17 years and 282 days) to score a First Grade century in the club’s 96-year history.

Lachy was also Player of the Match (117 runs) when Northern District Cricket Club won the NSW Premier Cricket Limited Overs Cup Final against Western Suburbs in March 2023.
