Roberto Howard to umpire his 100th men’s premier cricket first grade match

Roberto Howard will umpire his 100th men’s premier cricket first grade match this weekend in the Fairfield-Liverpool v Penrith fixture at Rosedale Oval.

Roberto commenced umpiring more than a decade ago when he first officiated in the then Sydney Grade Cricket competition. He made his first grade debut at Chatswood Oval in November 2016 umpiring the match between Gordon and Sydney University. He was elevated to the NSW State Umpire Panel in July 2018. He has become a highly respected umpire in our first grade competition.

Roberto has been appointed to umpire Cricket Australia National Championships throughout his high-performance pathway career, including umpiring the final of the U17 Male National Championships in Mackay in season 2019-20 and the final of the U19 Male National Championships in Adelaide in season 2022-23.

Roberto completed his Cricket Australia High Performance (Level 3) Umpire Accreditation in 2022 at the program held in Brisbane.

Roberto was elevated to the Cricket Australia Contracted Umpire Panel in July 2024, an opportunity he worked hard for over several years and richly deserved.

Roberto is a person of exemplary character with high integrity, committed to umpiring, cricket and all match officials’ teams of which he is a part. He is a humble and selfless member of the NSWCUSA who always looks to give back. Roberto shares his experience, expertise and resources with colleagues, gives his time generously to others, is coachable and committed to continuous improvement as a person and umpire.

In the NSWCUSA he willingly acts as mentor to other umpires and has made a valued contribution to the training and development team.
