On the 21st of March representatives from Lake Macquarie City Council met with member from Belmont District Cricket Club, Lakes United RLFC and Belmont Baseball Club

Earlier this year work was completed on the new upgrades to Barton Fields featuring new amenities and fields featuring a new turf square and baseball diamond.

This is the first of a multi-stage process where all the fields in the complex will be upgraded in what is the beginning of a very exciting era of Cricket, Football and Baseball in the Belmont and wider Lake Macquarie area.

Off the back of Cahill Oval being the host of 2 games in the 2024 Australian Country Cricket Championships, we are looking forward to being able to host more events of this kind in the near future as Cahill Oval continues to cement itself as one of the premier sporting fields in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area.
