Western Suburbs 3rd Grade hosted Fairfield Liverpool at Blick Oval in Round 3 of the 2023/24 NSW Premier Cricket season.
Western Suburbs won the toss and batted and found themselves in early trouble at 2 for 24 off the first 12 overs.
Fairfield Liverpool opening bowler Will McNamara figures in his first spell of 4 overs was 0 for 4 including 3 maidens.
A 43-run 3rd wicket partnership between Zain Shamsi and Josh Low McMahon was broken when Jai Long had Shamsi stumped for 18 and the score was 3 for 67.
Josh Low McMahon top scored for Western Suburbs with 50 off 62 balls including 4 fours and a six. He was ably supported by an excellent innings from Will O’Donell scoring 46 off 46 balls including 5 fours.
Blaise McKee scored 19 and Western Suburbs finished their 50 overs at 9 for 179.

All Fairfield Liverpool bowlers bowled well and economically with Will McNamara taking 3 for 18 off his 8 overs. Jai Long took 2 for 21 off 10 overs and Lachlan Grace 2 for 34 off 9 overs. Luke Doran bowled 10 overs picking up 1 for 41 Yash Deshmukh took 1 for 24 off 7 overs.
Fairfield started their innings losing Raghavan Selvaratnam for 1 in the second over as Matthew Smith went on the attack scoring 13 in the third over before Dean Jones picked up another 2 wickets in his 2nd over and Fairfield were 3 for 20.
Matthew Smith continued to attack and on 36 was caught at mid-off and the score was 4 for 48 off 9 overs.
Yash Deshmukh batting at number 6 scored an impressive 49 including 7 fours and when he was bowled by Bilal Khan Fairfield Liverpool were 7 for 112.
Western Suburbs picked up the 8th wicket with the score on 126 and then an excellent partnership between Michael Stephenson and Lachlan Grace put Fairfield well within reach of victory.
Grace was out for 17 with the score 159 and then Stephenson and Jai Long were edging their team closer to the winning total before Will Chesterfield bowled Stephenson for a well compiled 20 and Fairfield Liverpool were bowled out for 170.
Western Suburbs won by 9 runs.

For Western Suburbs Dean Jones took 3 for 43 off 7 overs having had the excellent figures of 3 for 5 off his first two overs.
Hammed Kherkhah took 3 for 32 off his 10 overs. Zain Shamsi 2 for 29 off 7 overs, Bilal Khan 1 for 30 off 8 overs and Will Chesterfield 1 for 27 off 7.3 overs,
