In Quest of the Ashes 1934

I have had this document for 50 odd years. It appeared in 1934, when 25-year-old Donald Bradman was vice captain of the Australian team about to travel to England for the Ashes, under the leadership of William “Bill” Woodfull. It is interesting to note that the famous ABC Cricket Book, read my most cricket supporters, was also first published in 1934.
The Don says his best innings till 1934 was his 254 at Lords in 1930.
It is interesting to note that DG Bradman’s test average was “only” 87.52 before the 1934 series in England. He scored 758 at 94.75 in 1934, 810 at 90.00 in 1936-37 and 434 at 108.50 in 1938, in 3 subsequent series against England. The second world war meant that no international cricket was played between 1939 and 1945. The Ashes resumed in 1946-47, with Bradman scoring 680 at 97.14, and in his final Ashes in 1948 scored 508 at 72.57. Bradman was Knighted for services to cricket in the 1949 New Year’s Honours list.
