Leading all-rounders in the history of ACT Cricket

Tony Goodfellow | July 28, 2023

The following list of statistically the best all-rounders in ACT first grade cricket highlights, what a wonderful player Greg ‘G.I’ Irvine was. (Greg Irvine pictured)

On his day Greg Irvine’s batting could tear an attack apart and his bowling was pretty handy as his five wickets in a PM XI match is testimony to that.

Three names in the top five in Lyle Maloney, Lorne Lees and Bill Tickner dominated Canberra cricket in the early days.

Neil ‘The Legend’ Bulger’s ranking is a bit surprising, one spot above my good mate Roland Zocchi and quite a few places behind a certain GJ Smith.

Smithy definitely wasn’t an all-rounder and his ranking was obviously weighted by the tremendous amount of wickets he took.

John Bull’s positioned at six is the real standout. There wasn’t a tougher competitor around in the 1980’s and Bully’s high ranking would be no surprise to those who played with and against him.
