Randwick Petersham Cricket Club v Australian Defence Force Cricket - November 2023

Randwick Petersham Cricket Club | August 07, 2024

Coogee Oval hosted Australian Defence Force Cricket in their final match of their Sydney tour and the inaugural match between the two sides.

Ben Mitchell led the RPC XI in the T20 and called correctly to bat first. Jake Egan dominated from the outset with a quickfire 29 off 12 balls. Mitchell also contributed with 30. RPCC finished their 20 overs 9-137 slightly below par.

In reply the ADF were off to flyer with 40 added to the score in quick time. Some disciplined bowling from Mitchell, and a sharp catch from Coady to dismiss the dangerous Corey Evans, slowed the ADF slightly. But with plenty of batting in the sheds the target was achieved for the loss of 5 wickets and 4 overs to spare.

ADF Captain Beau Wright and Mike Whitney

President Mike Whitney welcomed the ADF to Coogee post-match and thanked them for their service to Australia and encouraged them to return to Coogee next season which was met with great enthusiasm. Ben Mitchell was awarded MOTM by the opposition and thanks to Mark, Ben and Danin Silberman from Chargrill Charlies Coogee for their post-match catering.
