Todd Greenberg - Randwick Petersham Legend the new Cricket Australia CEO
Randwick Petersham Cricket Club | December 04, 2024
Randwick Petersham Legends Society member and former Randwick cricketer, Todd Greenberg, has been appointed CEO of Cricket Australia. Todd brings a wealth of sports experience and administration talent to the role. A former CEO of Canterbury Bulldogs and the NRL, he is currently CEO of the Australian Cricketer’s Association. It is a fantastic appointment by Cricket Australia and one welcomed by everyone who knows him. He will replace Nick Hockley who will vacate the role at the end of March 2025.
Todd joined Randwick as a 16-year-old in 1987-88 as a 5th Grade right-arm medium pacer. Two seasons later, he had switched his focus to his left-hand batting, bringing up his maiden century with 129* in 4ths. Pumping out runs through the grades, in the 1990-91 annual report where he was named Randwick’s best under 21 performer, he was described as “a dynamic, young left-handed fitness freak”.
Greenberg made his 1st Grade debut in 1992-93 but it was not until 1996-97, that he became a regular in the side. He hit two centuries in the top grade, scoring 105 from number 7 while batting with the tail against Petersham-Marrickville and a second of 119 against Hawkesbury in a season where he was instrumental in the team taking out the Limited Overs 1st Grade premiership.
After scoring 3,627 runs including seven centuries across eight seasons, Todd retired from Grade Cricket. Although only 25, the birth of a daughter and a new job with Cricket NSW as a Development Officer brought about a change in his focus and priorities. That was the start of a sports management career which has brought him to the ultimate role in cricket administration.
Congratulations Todd Greenberg! A well-earned and deserving appointment for you, but an even bigger win for the game of cricket.
