Randwick Petersham Cricket Club and Cricket Ireland - 10 year anniversary
Randwick Petersham Cricket Club | February 17, 2025
A conversation at training lit a spark which went on to see Randwick Petersham become the first Club side to form a partnership with an International team. In the subsequent seasons 9 Irish players have called 'County Coogee' home every summer through the Official Overseas Scholarship Programme.
Today also marks 10 years since that historic day at Coogee Oval when Randwick Petersham hosted Cricket Ireland in a 50 over warm up match for the 2015 Cricket World Cup and 2024-25 marks the Scholarship's 10th Anniversary. In 2017 the club toured Ireland and again in October 2022 hosted Ireland at Coogee prior to the T20 World Cup.

Michael Whitney AM, President of Randwick Petersham Cricket commented;
"I can't believe it has been 10 years since the Official Overseas Scholarship Programme was born and what a successful partnership with Cricket Ireland it has been!
It is Randwick Petersham's pleasure to be a second home to so many Irish cricketers over the years, including Balbirnie, McCarthy, Doheny and the Tector brothers, and then watch them go on to perform successfully in Tests and World Cups, and even more special was to witness the historic home Test at Malahide in 2018. Wishing all our brothers and sisters in Ireland the best for the 2025 season and I, and our Club, look forward to catching up with many of you during our tour later this year."

Richard Holdsworth, Director of Cricket, Cricket Ireland;
"We're delighted to have forged an incredibly strong and ambitious partnership with Randwick Petersham Cricket Club - an association that is now a decade long.
There is no better testament to the benefit of the partnership than to look back at the Irish players that have spent time in Coogee - Balbirnie, Tector, McCarthy, Doheny and Chase, to name a few. These players have not only spent valuable time developing their games on the field, but have also developed life skills off it through the all-round experience offered through the scholarship programme.
10 years down, many more to go. Our profound thanks to President Mike Whitney, CEO John Stewart and to all at the club for their support of Irish cricket."
