Jared Sippel finished the 2023-24 season with 657 runs at an average of 41.06 with Western Suburbs in Queensland Premier Cricket. He scored one century and 4 half centuries.
A Queensland country boy at heart Jared represented Queensland Under 17s at the National Championships in 2016 and has previously played for Sunshine Coast Scorches.

What year were you born?
2000
Tell us about your cricket journey. Where did you start junior cricket and the clubs you’ve played for in senior cricket?
I played juniors at Murgon then went on to play A grade as well. Also have played for Gympie Gold, Sunny Coast Scorchers and now playing for Western Suburbs in Brisbane.
If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?
A batsmen who bowls some off spin darts haha
What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?
I enjoy the team success a lot and also scoring runs is fun. Fielding in key positions and on the boundary.
What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?
Probably scoring a double hundred off 120 balls in open schoolboys for Wide Bay

Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?
Michael Neser
Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?
Cameron Boyce – he’s very good at mixing his pace up
Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
Joe Burns during the season just passed scored 150 in the one-day semi against us to chase 350 with 9 wickets down. Also, Sam Truloff’s double hundred against Redlands a couple years back was also great to watch.
Who is the best wicket keeper you’ve had the good fortune to play with?

Who are the two players you’ve come to admire most in your club in terms of skills and competitive spirit?
Steve Paulsen (Western Suburbs) and Troy Ashton (Gympie) are both goats. Their competitiveness and will to win. Always helping others to get better. Both have been successful for a long time in their competitions.

What are the two attributes you like to see in a captain and leader?
A captain who is willing to put the team first if need be and the want to succeed as a club.

Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?
Haven’t travelled much but would like to see Switzerland and New Zealand one day
Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?
Probably my Grandad Nev. He coached me when I was younger and is always looking for ways I can be better
Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?
That things will always get better if you keep working hard and putting the effort in

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?
Go back to the farm to help out and having a couple beers with my mates.
What do you do for work?
I work on the family dairy farm back home at Murgon.
What are your looking to be your goals in 2024-25?
Enjoy playing my cricket and scoring some runs. Maybe a wicket or two if the skipper gives me a bowl, haha.
Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play first class cricket?
Would be a great privilege to play for my state. Something I’ve always wanted to do.
