Ron Mulock was born January 11th 1930 and died September 4th 2014. He was educated at St Declan's in Penshurst and De La Salle College (now Casimir Catholic College), Marrickville.
Ron was a fast medium outswing bowler who was raised in Hurstville and went on to play first grade for St George DCC (1st Grade player No.161). After moving to Penrith he went on to play for Central Cumberland which was the local club back in those days.
Mulock took 202 First Grade wickets for St George, Waverley and Central Cumberland during his career at an average of 19.29, with a best of 8-59 against Northern District in a Semi Final in 1962/63. In addition he added another 219 wickets in second grade. In the 1959–60 season he was the highest wicket-taker (49) in the Sydney First Grade Competition. At his peak, Mulock was said to be one of the best fast bowlers outside the Test team. His career started in 1949/50 and finished after the 1962/63 season.
He practised as a solicitor in Penrith before entering politics. Ron became the local member of Parliament in 1971 rising to the position of Deputy Premier in 1984 under Premier Neville Wran. He was an alderman at Penrith City Council for six years, including three terms as Mayor.
Ron was a regular at St George club functions and always spoke highly of his playing days at St George DCC.
