St George Cricket Club | April 06, 2023

20 years ago, to the day Str George District Cricket Club 2nd Grade team played out one of the clubs most thrilling Grand Final wins after losing on 1st Innings.

It was the steppingstone for many greater things to come from a very talented squad but one of the aspects that stands out to the day was the magnificent leadership and man management of skipper David Thompson.

To this day, David credits it as being one of his career highlights. "What a weekend it was, I remember saying to the team at training during the week that this game won’t be over till Sunday afternoon, and that’s what happened, hard to believe it’s 20 years ago. Apart from winning it’s been the 20-year friendship with this great bunch of blokes that is the treasure we have all kept. The Big Yellow Taxi continues to drive the memory!"
