Q&A interview with the Jet, Quincy Lee Titterton

Gordon District Cricket Club | October 06, 2024

Born: 1992, 13th of August

Cricket Journey

Started juniors from under 12's to 16's at Kings Langley cricket club. Played one year of Sydney grade at Hawkesbury (5th to 3rd grade)

Played 3 years for Parramatta under 19's reps alongside Guildford leagues as my club. Moved to Blacktown grade club for 3 years plus a year rehab with a back injury (being bedridden for 6 months) I returned to make my first grade debut there. Followed by a stint over in Essex UK for Braintree (div1) 450 runs @33 and 36 poles @21.

Returned with 4 seasons at Western Suburbs, followed by the past 5 years at Gordon District Cricket Club. In 2022 mid way through my career at Gordon I went abroad again to Liverpool Uk for Northern cricket club. 200 runs @21 and 68 wickets @19. My coaching background has been 11 years strong and my current cricket club after relocating is Waratah Mayfield in Newcastle district.

I am a pace bowler who bats a bit when I want to haha.

I love cricket because it allows me to let all my energy out and have fun and meet so many great people.

Favourite Memories

1-     My first and only win against St George as a 16-year-old in my first 3rd grade game, batting 11 scored 16 in a partnership of 112 with no.8 at the time 89 not (I got bowled shock) we won the game by 12 runs and I took 2 wickets up top.

2-     My first grade debut for Blacktown was at North Sydney Oval which we won a one day game I got 2 wickets (Scott Rodgie and Jaik Mickleburgh the overseas pro both caught behind in the same over. I did not bat but what made this special to me was that it was my second game back from my injury and I played 4's as rehab the week before.

Favourite Player

Favourite all time cricket is Kumar Sangakkara, the best wicket keeper bat of all time in my opinion. I got the honour of bowling to him in 2015 World Cup net bowling and had a good chat as well.

Best Grade Players

Fastest bowler I've faced would have to be Harris Rauf when he played with me at Western Suburbs. 6.30pm net sessions were not fun. I did admire Greg West though as an opponent, his effort energy and passion were great.

Best spinner I've played with or against. I know he's family, but I still can't go past Stephen O'Keefe, he always had a way to make you start thinking more and more.

Best innings I've seen as a teammate I would say Tym Crawford 203 not in a 1 day game last season. Played against would be Kurtis Patterson 164 not out in a 1 day game (chanceless) Harris Rauf was also playing this game.

Best wicket keeper I have played with would be James Cole captain at Northern Cricket club in England. He would keep up to stumps to quicks at 80/85mile an hour without a helmet and take stumpings.

Young Prospects

Young prospect to look out for at Gordon would be young 20-year-old Joey Gillard, he can bat.

I admire Connor Cook, love his work ethic and desire to succeed plus he is full of hunger and fit. He also lets people know if they aren't being accountable for their game at training.

I also admire Callum Bladen, a young quick that took a first grade opportunity by the throat and has now showed how good he can be with ball in hand. Great guys and I have a lot of time for them.

What makes a good captain?

A good captain to me trusts in their bowler's plans and can communicate effectively, but have fun as well.

Who is the signer or band you would you like to see?

I wish I got to see Michael Jackson and would love to see Chris Brown.

Biggest Pest

Everyone will say me probably as the biggest pest at the club so il go with my current team mate at Waratah and say Adrian Isherwood. He is the only player I know that seeks out someone to sledge him and can perform better than his best.

Favourite Holiday

Favourite holiday destination would be Phuket Thailand (beach, heat, food and cheap) or Italy as the family is there and I just love the culture and food.

Biggest Influences

Biggest influences on me: over the past 5 years is Matt Nicholson (former test fast bowler) has probably been the best pace bowling coach I could of asked for.

Stephen O'Keefe the reason I started my cricket journey.

My personal trainer Tyrell Navio from Ethos Performance. He is not only a pt, but a counsellor (listens to all my problems) and a good friend to me over these past 5 years ??

Who inspires you?

Recently I've been coaching the NSW deaf team and each and every player has inspired me. Whether it's to put more percentages in at our sessions or not give up in my games. The whole team at Ethos Performance. Athletes, trainers no matter who it is from there we all look out for each other and support each other through our sporting goals.

Who would you like to meet?

Ricky Ponting over a beer, Will Ferrell to have a laugh and talk about shoes, I can't say the x rated people so I'll finish with Adam Sandler to play golf with.

How do you relax?

In my time off I love to play golf and spend time with my dogs.

What is your occupation?

I work for Form1 doing electrical in the fire safety industry and have my own cricket coaching business in Inspire High Performance Academy.

Favourite Quotes

1-     "be yourself not someone else"

2-     "RISK if you don't make it, it's your own damn "vault"!"

Goals

1.     My goals for the next season; to have a fun season being around a new club.

2.     Play finals for me and my Brewers Shield team I coach for Gordon Women.

3.     Make the NSW country team.

4.     To play first class cricket, would have been a dream come true 5 years ago. Now I would feel like it's just another game. I'd personal think I'd fit right into the T20 scene.

Fun fact I have played 2 x One Day International games against Malaysia which I captained for Australia Air Force. 1 win and 1 loss.
