Centenary of Trumper Pavilion, Chatswood Oval
Gordon District Cricket Club | October 13, 2024
On 2nd November 2024, Gordon Cricket and Rugby clubs, in conjunction with Willoughby City Council, will celebrate the centenary of the opening of Trumper Pavilion back in September 1924.
Victor Trumper is known as the most stylish and versatile batsman of the Golden Age of cricket, capable of playing match-winning innings on wet wickets his contemporaries found unplayable.
Chatswood Oval has been the home of Gordon District Cricket Club since its formation in 1905. Gordon Rugby Club was formed in 1936 and has played at Chatswood Oval from that time. Both clubs have Women’s divisions and Juniors.
Many famous matches have been played on Chatswood Oval by teams including Australian and State representatives of both clubs. A few outstanding performances by individuals will be featured on the day as well as photos and memorabilia displayed inside the pavilion.
We welcome Councilors, officials, past players and supporters to come along at 12 noon on the day. Our first grade team will be playing a match against Campbelltown-Camden on the day, so guests will be treated to some excellent cricket before and after the official ceremony.
