Which first grade team had the most individual 50 plus scores in the 2023–24 NSW Premier Cricket season?

Paul Ryan | April 07, 2024

Winning premierships and making the semi finals in cricket is never easy.

Cricket typically spans six months, from September to March, during which each club, team, and player must contend with factors such as player availability, weather, pitches, fast and slow outfields, and dropped catches.

What makes it undeniable to play semi final cricket and win premierships is the need to have a connected team with a strong work ethic who play good cricket with the bat, ball, on and the field.

It’s true that catches win matches, but it’s the bowlers who create the chances. Bowlers rely heavily on the batters to score the runs needed to win the game to capitalise on their good efforts when they bowl first and score enough runs to give the bowlers a target to bowl to when the team bats first.

In the 2023–24 NSW Premier Cricket season, St George won the premiership after defeating Manly in the final by 9 wickets.

The top 6 teams after the preliminary rounds were:

1. St George (86 points)

2. Manly Warringah (73 points)

3. Northern Districts (72 points)

4. Parramatta (61 points)

5. Gordon (52 points)

6. Randwick Petersham (49 points)

Last week I shared a piece about a batter’s IPF Batting Index. The number of innings on average for a batter to score 50 runs or more.

Here’s the link – https://www.cricconnect.com/profile/32/paul-ryan/blog/2088/how-regularly-do-you-need-to-be-scoring-50-or-more-runs
