Message from the President - Fitzroy Doncaster District Cricket Club - Past Players, Parents, Partners and Supporters

Fitzroy Doncaster Cricket Club | July 26, 2024

The Lions are seeking your support. It’s not too late to volunteer to join the General Committee or head up one of our major functions for the year.

The actual day-to-day running of the club and match day is well taken care of with the Game Day Administrator, coaches and players all contributing to the smooth running of the Club. So, the time commitment is not what you may think. We are looking for people who can contribute small amounts of personal time.

We are particularly looking for people both men and women who can help shape the future direction of the club over the next 5 years.

Premier Cricket is a very competitive environment and as a club we must keep striving to get better on and off the field.

If you know someone who could make a difference at our club, please reach out to them and get them to contact me. It’s a very rewarding role with a great playing group, supportive coaches and we all need to take our turn to give back to the FDCC.

We are looking for people to come onto the General Committee.

We also need support in sponsorship. If you have contacts or have a skill set in this area, please reach out both on the General Committee or just as an adviser to the club.

Some of the FDCC community might want to get together to help manage our major function - our Friday lunch.

Equally, in the social media space we have Hannah helping us; but we need content and someone who can help prioritize our message and more fully support our sponsors.

I am just reaching out to the Club support base. Some powerful Premier Clubs have 12 people on their committee and over 200 people at their Past Players and Supporters lunch. They have a presence. By contrast FDCC is essentially run by a handful of players’ parents. Melbourne Cricket Club hangs their premiership photos up at the MCG during the winter; we put ours in a shed.

If we are to increase our profile in Premier Cricket, and compete with the traditionally powerful clubs, we need to broaden our reach off the field.

The one thing we all know is the club is well run and well administrated. This is acknowledged by CV. So, to maximise these strengths we need to prioritise recruiting talented and interested people in off the field endeavours. We want to prioritise this as much as we prioritise recruitment for on the field.

If you can help in any capacity, if you have any contacts or ideas about how to strengthen FDCC off the field, please contact!!!
