Sam Grant is Penrith first grade player number 239.

Sam opens the bowling for Penrith and in the 2023-24 season he took 36 wickets at an average of 15.61 with best bowling figures of 7 for 35.

What year were you born?

June 21st 1999

Tell us about your cricket journey.

My cricket journey started like all young kids, in the backyard with dad barely able to swing the bat. My first game of cricket was at the age of 7, playing for Glenmore Park Redbacks. I have played my whole junior years at Glenmore Park, with 1 season at Cranebrook

If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?

I describe my game as an all rounder, pace bowler

What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?

Being out in the field with 10 of my best mates every weekend and embracing the brotherhood

What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?

My 1st grade debut in 2023/24 season, receiving my baggy black from one of my best mates and being lucky enough to take 5/33 in a winning team.

Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?

Fiji

Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?

Mum and Dad, all the sacrifices they made for me to enjoy cricket and hours spent driving around

Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?

Inspiration through other people who have helped me during tough times and some of small gestures they have done for me. Going back to the simple processes that build towards greater success

Beach, play golf, spend time with my partner

What do you do for work?

I am a primary school teacher

My favourite quote is from Top Gun Maverick - “Don't think, just do”

What are your goals for the season?

Continue enjoying my cricket and playing at the highest level I can

Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play first class cricket?

Playing first class cricket would be a great achievement for myself. Ultimately it's about enjoying the game
