Aimee Ravot #75 - Penrith Cricket Club

Penrith Cricket Club | February 26, 2025

Let's find out out more about Aimee's journey in the game so far.

What year were you born?

2006

Tell us about your cricket journey. Where did you start junior cricket and the clubs you’ve played for in senior cricket

I started my cricket journey at Richmond Cricket Club playing U10s. I was then asked to play at Glenmore Park Cricket Club in an all-girls team. Then I was asked to trial for the Penrith Junior Cricket Association Margaret Peden (U15s) girls representative team, and ever since then I have played at Penrith Cricket Club and have been working my way up into First Grade.

I’ve travelled to Alice Springs to play in the National Indigenous Cricket Competition tournament (NICC), where I was named in the Team of the Tournament and awarded a Cricket Australia Indigenous Baggy Black cap. I’ve also travelled to Melbourne, trained in the Australian Indigenous women’s squad training, and played a game at the MCG in which I was awarded Player of the Match.

I’ve played in Vanuatu with the Australian Indigenous squad. This tour was a very good learning experience and a personally proud achievement to pay for my Country and my Mob. Playing with players like Ella Hayward and Mikayla Hinkley and other girls from all over Australia while being captained by Hannah Darlington was a huge highlight.

I’ve also been on tour to India with the Australia India Women’s Cricket Association (AIWCA) to compete in a series of games. This was a tour I’ll never forget – just being there and learning about Indian culture, playing on Indian fields and learning to read different pitches and see what was working and what wasn’t.

I’ve recently been asked to travel to Indonesia for the AIWCA in April of this year to play in the Women Bali Bash International (WBBI), which is a T20 format. There’s also the Kartini Cup T10 tournament.

If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer? Batsman, bowler, allrounder, wicket keeper etc

I am a leg spin bowler and a middle to lower order batter with aspirations to improve every time I play.

What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?

I enjoy playing with my friends and the atmosphere of being around all the players and supporters. Going on tours to other countries is pretty good too!

What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?

Playing in the women’s National Indigenous team alongside Hannah Darlington, Mikayla Hinkley and Ella Hayward. Playing for my country with high profile players and representing my Mob is very special to me.

Who’s your favourite all-time cricketer?

Ash Gardner

Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?

Ebony Hoskins, Sammy-Jo Johnson and Hannah Darlington

Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?

Jade Allen, Isa Malgioglio and Georgia Adams

Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?

That would have to be Phoebe Litchfield in the 2022/23 grand final match for Penrith. She got 99 runs in that match.

Who is the best wicket keeper you’ve had the good fortune to play with?

Rebecca Cady

Is there a young player in your club you’d like to nominate as a player to watch?

Annabel Batty with her amazing keeping and batting skills. She is one to watch for the near future.

Who are the two players you’ve come to admire most in your club in terms of skills and competitive spirit?

This would have to be our skippers – Sam Arnold and Elise Noble. Both have such a great attitude towards the game and towards other players. Their respect and knowledge for the game and team mentality is inspiring.

What are the two attributes you like to see in a captain and leader?

Being able to take in others’ ideas and having the ability to talk to the players about their game.

Which singer/band would you like to see perform live?

Eminem

Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?

I haven’t been on many holidays, but I enjoyed going to Vanuatu and Alice Springs for cricket.

Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?

There are a few people who have influenced my career over the past few years, including Tiger (Ron Woods); my captain and vice-captain, Sam Arnold and Elise Noble; and also all my coaches. But the main one would have to be my dad – he would to anything to help me play and be the best I can on and off the field.

Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?

Definitely would have to be my teammates and my family.

Who are the three people in the world you’d love to meet and talk to?

Ash Gardner, Nathan Lyon and Marcus Stoinis

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?

I like to hang out with friends or just relax with my sausage dog (Sleep).

What do you do for work?

I am the Dispatch Coordinator at ACR Supply Partners.

Do you have a favourite quote?

You are not defeated when you lose; you are defeated when you quit.

What are your goals for the next season?

My goals are to be the leading female wicket-taker again for the season and to potentially move up in the batting order. I would also like to be selected in the NICC tournament and play for the National Indigenous team again.

Can we ask, what would it mean to you to play first class cricket?

Playing first class cricket in the WNCL would be an amazing thing to accomplish. Even playing for the National Indigenous team was something I never thought I would do. But having been selected to play was amazing, so I’ll keep putting the hard work in and we’ll see how it all plays out.
