Jon Webster appointed General Manager of SCG Cricket and Sydney Cricket Club

It gives me great pleasure to announce Jon Webster’s appointment as the new General Manager of SCG Cricket. Jon replaces Steve Thomlinson, who is moving on to pursue other interests, we would like to thank Steve for his stewardship over the past two years.
Jon brings with him a wealth of experience, both professionally and personally, that aligns perfectly with our club’s values and aspirations. I look forward to working together as we continue to achieve great things on and off the field.

Introducing – Jon Webster.
I kicked off my career more than 25 years ago in the UK telecommunications industry, where I built pricing strategies across Europe, launched new products to drive revenue, and led internal projects to streamline processes and cut costs.
In 2005, my family and I made the big move Down Under, where I put my expertise to work at American Express. There, I set up the Commercial Card Insights and Advisory business and spent 16 years leading teams across Asia Pacific and Europe, helping businesses tackle their payment and expense challenges. These days, I’m partnering with a UK firm to build their payment and expense practice and still solving complex client problems, which is what I love doing.
I’ve always been a firm believer in transparency, inclusion and open communication. Success, in my view, comes from creating an environment where everyone feels heard, where ideas are shared freely and where trust and collaboration thrive. That’s exactly what I want to bring to the Tigers.
Being British, it’s no shock that I’m a long-suffering England cricket supporter. I have high hopes (probably too high!) for the Poms in both the Women’s Ashes happening now and the Men’s Ashes later this year. My connection to Sydney Cricket Club started when my daughter, Daisy, joined the Brewers Shield team, and since then I’ve been involved helping out on the Ops Committee, cooking snags on the famous Harding Bar BBQ, and even attempting to keep up with 1st, 2nd, 3rd Grade and Brewers scoring!
I can’t wait to meet more of the fantastic people involved with the Tigers and SCG XI and look forward to an exciting 2025 and beyond!
