G-Mac sets the ultimate example to our younger girls and encompasses admirable Spirit of the bear. We’re excited to delve into G-Mac’s story and learn the ups and downs of her sporting career so far.
Q: What do you love about being a Bear?
GEORGIA: I’ve been a part of the Bears for many years now. I can say with experience that the girls are always very supportive and lift you up, no matter if it be a bad day or a great day, no matter if they’re new to the club or the old timers, the Bears are a community that supports their own.
Q: What has been the most challenging obstacle you’ve faced in your sporting career, and how did you overcome it?
GEORGIA: A huge challenge I have faced is having confidence in my ability. When I first made my way into senior cricket with the Bears, I wasn’t featured much in the bowling line up understandably as I was a younger and less experienced player, so in all honesty it was challenging to remain confident and optimistic in that period of my cricket, I found getting my feet wet in games and working my way into a solid spot in the attack, this obstacle became a lot more manageable.
Q: Can you share the moment you first fell in love with Cricket and what drew you to it?
GEORGIA: I’ve always grown up watching the cricket, both my mum and dad have played the game and we’re always watching every match (especially the Boxing Day test match!!). Playing at the Bears since juniors has also fostered my love for cricket, and has kept me playing ever since!
Q: Is there one particular moment from last season that you consider your most memorable highlight?
GEORGIA: I played some games for second grade last season and I was privileged enough to watch the girls win the grand final at Chatswood Oval. Even as a spectator this was such an amazing moment and a testament to all their hard work, I found that last season also provided me the opportunity to grow closer to some girls in different teams and of different ages, forming so many new friendships and connections, a major highlight for me.”
Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of the Cricket season to relax and recharge?
GEORGIA: Well in the off season I play hockey for my school which I’ve found is also great for my cricketing skills! I also enjoy reading and going on runs. I really suggest it for clearing your mind and relaxing!
Q: And finally, what is something that has to be packed for lunch on gameday?
GEORGIA: Definitely a Banana! My teammates have definitely gotten used to seeing one in my lunch box on a Sunday, you can’t go wrong! A snack that’s easy to eat, full of energy and never gives me a stitch when I’m bowling!
