Q: Cameron Hemp made his first grade debut for Prahran Cricket Club on the 4 December 2021 against Camberwell Magpies and is the proud owner of first grade cap number 609.

Cameron scored his first hundred in first grade opening the batting against St Kilda in round 3 of the 2023-24 season. 109 off 171 balls including 10 fours and 6 sixes.

In round 16 of the 2023-24 season Cameron scored 163 not out against Frankston Peninsula off 221 balls including 16 fours and 6 sixes.

In the 2023-24 season Cameron scored 619 runs at an average of 619.

Q: Neil Schlittler made his first grade debut for Prahran Cricket Club during the 1997/98 season and played 233 first grade games for the club.

At the time of publication Neil is the 4th highest first grade run scorer in the clubs history having scored 6,460 runs at an average of 27.84. His highest score was 178 and he hit 9 centuries and 34 half centuries. He also took 47 wickets with best figures of 3 for 16 and took 91 catches.

Neil was Prahran first grade captain in 58 games and he’s a two time winner of the Dav Whatmore Award for the Champion 1st XI Player of the Year.

In 2015 Neil Schlittler was inducted into the Prahran Cricket Club’s Hall of Fame.

Q: Vale Patrick Hugh Smith OAM

It is with sadness that we report the sudden passing of former club captain and Hall of Fame inductee Patrick Smith on 12 November 2023 at the age of 71.

Born on January 20, 1952, Pat will be remembered for his outstanding career as one of Australia’s greatest sports journalists. Winner of three Walkley Awards, he was a former football, cricket and athletics writer and columnist for The Sun, and sports editor for The Age and The Australian newspapers in a career spanning almost 50 years.

He was also a longtime contributor to 1116 SEN where he worked alongside Richmond icon Kevin Bartlett for two decades.

Smith’s Walkley Awards came in 1997, 2002 and 2004 when he was recognised for his sharp commentary and cold analysis.

He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2021 for his services to print media as a journalist.

Q: Andrew Grant made his first grade debut for Prahran Cricket Club during the 1981/82 season and played 209 first grade games for the club scoring 6,959 runs at an average of 36.43 including 11 centuries and 38 half centuries.

Andrew remains the third highest all-time first grade run scorer for Prahran.

In 1996/97 Andrew played for St Kilda Cricket Club for two seasons scoring 1,006 at an average of 40.24 and hit 8 half centuries.

All up in Premier Cricket in Victoria Andrew Grant played 238 games and scored 7,965 runs at 36.87 with 11 centuries and 46 half centuries.

He’s a member of the Cricket Victoria 200 Club and a very proud Life Member and Hall of Fame Member of Prahran Cricket Club.
