Celebrating an Historic Night at the Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club

Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club | December 28, 2023

Saturday 16th December 2023 marked a monumental moment for our beloved Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club as we unveiled the stunning Noel Gorman Pavilion Second Storey. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and excitement as we cut the ribbon on this incredible addition, made possible by the hard work and dedication of many.

A huge shoutout to those who played pivotal roles in bringing our vision to life:

·      Lisa Atwood – Councillor for Doboy

·      Joan Pease - State Member for Lytton

·      Mitch Barlow - Brisbane City Council (and our official ribbon cutter!)

·      Andrew Sly – Deputy Director General Sport and Recreation

·      Luke Maguire - Owner of Evermore

Special recognition on the evening went to the following attendees:

·      Candidate for Doboy, Alex Cossu

·      Long-time supporter Peter Cumming

·      New friend of the club Alex Givney Lord Mayor's representative for the Wynnum Manly Ward.

We also honored our esteemed Life Members in attendance: Billy Albury, Robin Harris, Mark Gaskell, Graham Kinnear, Neil Bowtell, Ryan Poole, Susie Duncan, Ian Gallager, and Michael Stone.

In an historic moment, we inducted nine inaugural playing members into the Sea Eagles Hall of Fame:

·      Justin Poole

·      Ryan Broad

·      Ryan Poole

·      Mark Gaskell

·      Bill Albury

·      Michael Stone

·      Ian Gallagher

·      Robin Harris

·      Trish Brown.

They've achieved remarkable milestones, meeting stringent criteria that truly showcase their dedication to our club.

To further immortalize our legends, we named four Club Immortals:

·      Bill Albury

·      Ryan Poole

·      Justin Poole

·      Trish Brown.

Their exceptional achievements across various categories have solidified their status as cricket legends.

We further applauded our latest male Baggy Green First Grade Cap members, Tim Hale (Number 393) and Harmon Sandhu (Number 394). Their remarkable achievements have earned them a well-deserved place in our club's history.

The night was a joyous gathering of over 100 members and guests, relishing in the delicious spread and refreshments within our new facility. Here's to the continued success and camaraderie at WMDCC.
