Connor Rudman is a young top order batter for Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club,
In 2023–24, Connor played through the grades from 5th grade through to 2nd grade, as well as the clubs under-19 team and Taverners QLD under-17s. He also represented his school’s first XI.
He scored 861 runs with an average of 29.69, including a terrific 151 for Wynnum Manly 4th grade against Redlands at EGW Wood Reserve.
Connor Rudman won the Wynnum Manly District Cricket Club Humphries-Simon Lower Grade Cricketer of the Year in 2023–24.

What year were you born?
2006
Tell us about your cricket journey.
I started at Bulimba cricket club for junior cricket and then transitioned to Wynnum for senior cricket.
If you can share with our readers how you would describe yourself as a cricketer?
Batter
What do you enjoy most about playing cricket?
I love getting into the heat of the battle and spending time with mates
What’s been your most memorable moment in cricket so far?
Taverners game a couple of years ago vs Redlands where we won off the last ball of our 50 over during a run chase.
Who’s your favourite all-time cricketer?
Kane Williamson
Who is the fastest bowler you’ve played against?
Don’t know if this counts but Henry Zietch off 15m in the nets would have to be up there
Who is the best spinner you’ve played against?
Brayden Meegama – Spins it sharply both ways and very difficult to pick
Who played the best innings you’ve seen firsthand playing with or against?
Harley Malpass hundred in Taverners vs Wests last year
Who is the best wicket keeper you’ve had the good fortune to play with?
Nick Boller – solid keeper all-round and able to take some very good grabs
Is there a young player in your club you’d like to nominate as a player to watch?
Ezra Wolfik – good young kid with plenty of talent and a great work ethic
Who are the two players you’ve come to admire most in your club in terms of skills and competitive spirit?
Skill – One of Jackson Steinhardt or Harley Malpass, both very good to watch when things are going right
Work Ethic – Ali Nasar, think he has been at the nets every time I’ve been there and heard he hasn’t had a day off in the past three years.
What are the two attributes you like to see in a captain and leader?
Being accountable and being able to receive feedback
Which singer/band would you like to see perform live?
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Who’s considered the biggest pest at your club?
Definitely Noah Maguire and Hayden Hamilton from the youth set up
Favourite location, city or country as a holiday destination?
Somewhere in New Zealand, beautiful country to visit.
Who’s been the biggest influence on your career so far?
Would probably have to say my dad, spent plenty of hours in the nets working with him on my game.
Where do you find inspiration that gets you through challenging times?
I try and reflect on the times where things were going well so I can work out what I am doing wrong and how I can fix any issue that I may have.
Who are the three people in the world you’d love to meet and talk to?
Roy Keane – Fearless leader and seems like a pretty funny guy, would like to get a few different perspectives from him
Tiger Woods – Incredible golfer and career, hopefully would have a couple of tips to help me
Brendan McCullum – Love how he revolutionised cricket and the aggressive approach he has taken into both playing and coaching, I definitely try and utilise parts of his approach in my game

What do you like to do to relax outside cricket?
I play some golf and also do a little bit of running in my spare time, also enjoy watching any game of sport that is on.

What are your cricketing goals?
I don’t have any particular goals at the moment but just hoping to put in some good performances and work my way up the grades.
