Stockton and Northern Districts Cricket Club | July 11, 2023
In 2020 the Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club approached club stalwart and Life Member Ron Hancock to name his team of the decade for the last five decades along with a team of the last 50 years (1970-2019).
Ron has been heavily involved with Stockton & Northern Districts Cricket Club for over 50 years.

Jody Whitehead - Captain
Jody first joined the club in the 90s and was a premiership winner as part of the 1994-95 1st grade team and in the 2000s he really came into his own as a classy left handed batsman and exceptional captain. jody was instrumental in building a successful period in the clubs history through the 2000s.
Jody's batting was of the highest order and the better the opposition the better Jody played.

Terry Crittenden
Terry joined the club in 2003 and his impact with both bat and ball was immeasurable. Terry’s destructive batting at the top of the order set up many wins and put fear into the opposition bowlers on many occasions. His quality left arm swing bowling left many a batsman searching for answers. Terry captained for many seasons and was without doubt one of the clubs finest allrounders. In all Terry scored 5422 runs including 8
centuries and took 183 wickets in 1st Grade for Stockton.

Joseph Price
In two separate stints with the club Joe developed into a fine allround cricketer. Starting out predominately as an attacking opening batsman, Joe quickly developed his skills as a reliable seam bowler which added great versatility to the attack. Joe is one of only four Stockton players to score a 1st Grade double century with 208 not out against Wests

Mark Dries
A cricketer equally talented in all three facets of the game, Marks skills added another dimension to the 1st Grade team when he joined the club in 2006. Mark captained the club to Tom Locker Cup success in 2008-09.
Mark scored 2365 runs for the club at an average of 46.37 with 7 centuries and took
83 wickets at 21.02.

Steve Phillips
Steve joined the club in 2008 from Manly where he also represented NSW in T20. He had an immediate impact scoring 125 not out in the Tom Locker semi-final and a high class 76 in the Tom Locker final against Merewether. Steve also scored an outstanding century in the SCG semi final.

Brett Crosdale
A local junior who spent several years living and playing in the UK.
After returning to Stockton, Brett’s stylish and free flowing batting was a
strength of the Stockton middle order. A match winning century in the Tom Locker Cup quarter final of 2004-05 was a memorable highlight.
Hassan Khan
Hassan was a very talented all round cricketer who was unstopable on his day with either bat or ball. The 2004-05 season was particularly memorable with Hassan taking 6 for 62 in the final win over Wallsend. Hassan also scored the 243 against Cardiff in the same season to hold the clubs highest ever individual score.

Darren Whittingham
Darren was a very consistent allrounder and high quality performer over a long period. Darren's excellent seam bowling was particularly effective on the flat Lynn Oval wicket where a tight line and length is essential. Technically correct with the bat, Darren often performed very strongly when the team needed him most.
Darren scored 1197 runs at 32.35 and took 115 wickets at 13.52 in 1st Grade for the club

Nick Foster
A local junior, Nick has been a long standing member of the 1st Grade team. One of the leading spinners in Newcastle for many years his ability to bowl long spells on the batsman friendly Lynn Oval often gave Stockton teams a distinct advantage.
Nick has scored 4073 runs at 22.03 and has taken 483 wickets at 21.71 for the club in 1st Grade

Warren Lee
An English export, Warren provided the club with an outstanding fast bowler. Warren only spent one season with the club but he clearly had a fine season in the maroon cap.
30 wickets at 13.83
Warren also represented Kent 13 matches
Shane Burley
It is no coincidence that the successful mid 2000s coincided with Shane arriving at Stockton in 2003. Already a seasoned campaigner, Shane’s competitive nature and work ethic coupled with his outstanding glovework made him invaluable. Shane was without doubt one of Newcastle’s best gloveman in recent memory and his work up to the stumps something to behold. In particular his keeping up to the fast bowlers in the 2004-05 final was match defining.
In 1st Grade for Stockton Shane took 131 catches and made 31 stumpings.

Troy Mason
Troy was a whole hearted fast bowler who toiled hard on batsman friendly wickets at Lynn Oval, often bowling long spells and carrying the attack in the early 2000s. Troy's ability to build sustained pressure over long periods was a feature of his bowling.
