In Memory of Jim Dickinson - A fine young sportsman

Stockton and Northern Districts Cricket Club | August 14, 2024

In March 1954, Stockton District Cricket Club presented the Jim Dickinson Memorial Trophy to the Newcastle District Cricket Association in memory of Jim Dickinson, a member of the club who died in March 1953.

The trophy, "The Jimmy Dickinson Memorial Trophy", is awarded each year to the player with the highest average, with a provision that he gains 200 runs from no fewer than five innings and the trophy continues to be awarded by the NDCA to this day.

Jim Dickinson was 23 when he died after a brief illness. Jimmy as he was affectionately known was a prominent and talented young sportsman who was a Country Week player in cricket, baseball and hockey.
