Q: Andrew Downton was a left arm fast bowler who played grade cricket for Randwick in the NSW Premier Cricket Competition

Looking for opportunities Andrew moved to Tasmania in 1998 and played 33 first class games for Tasmania. He took 102 wickets at an average of 34.12 with best figures of 6 for 56.

With the bat Andrew scored 296 runs at an average of 8.45 and a highest score of 45

Q: Darren Berry was an outstanding wicket keeper who played 153 first class cricket games and took 603 dismissals, 552 catches and 51 stumping’s.

Darren scored 4,273 runs at an average of 21.58 with his highest score 166 not out. He scored 4 first class hundreds and 11 x 50s.

On retirement, Chuck as he is affectionately knows has become a very successful coach and mentor.

As a fellow wicket keeper my regard for Chuck as a keeper is quite simple, he was the Wicket Keepers, Keeper. He’s also a great mate.

Q: Colin Miller first-class career spanned 16 seasons from 1985/86 to 2001/02 playing 3 states Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. He became Australian Test Cricket Player Number 379 and went on to play 18 Tests in the Baggy Green.

He made his First-Class debut at the age of 21 but had to wait until he was 34 to play his First Test

Colin “Funky” Miller had an amazing cricketing journey. He travelled the world to play the game he loves and had the unique ability to adapt or switch from bowling medium pace swing bowling to bowling off-spin successfully at the highest level.

Q: Steve Nikitaras was a left-arm fast bowler who represented both NSW and Western Australia.

A late starter to the game Steve possessed incredible natural talent and quickly progressed through the ranks and played 4 first-class game and 14 one day games.

It’s been quite the cricket journey for Steve and he shares some raw insights and most memorable moments

When I finally got picked in an NSW squad, it was massive and I can honestly say it was enough. I don’t see the same value these days in players and I think players don’t appreciate it to the degree we did. Maybe I have that wrong but I doubt it.

Peter McPhee was a right arm fast medium bowler who played first grade cricket in Brisbane before moving to Tasmania and making his first class debut in 1989/90.

Peter played 27 first class games for Tasmania capturing 89 wickets at an average of 33.16. His best bowling figures was 6 for 36 and he took 5 wickets in an innings on 4 occasions and picked up 10 wickets in match in one game.

John Saint made his first class debut for Tasmania in the 1995/96 season and went on the play 4 Sheffield Shield games and 6 one day games.

John arrived in Hobart to play for North Hobart after winning consecutive Bill O’Reilly Medals awarded to the best player in NSW Premier Cricket in 1993/94 and 1994/95.

John originally played for Penrith Cricket Club before transferring to Sydney University
