Sturdy Sports is one of the fastest-growing retailers in the Australian cricket industry, offering great cricket gear online since 2012 & started retail in 2016. Staying true to our core values during 10+ years in business has helped us to relocate in 2021 & be Australia’s biggest cricket store. We are looking to expand and process of opening 2nd retail store in Melbourne's eastern suburbs in 16 months.  

We look for candidates with proven Sales, customer service, and management experience who thrive in a team-based atmosphere. We’re looking for someone who builds and maintains relationships easily and desires to put the customer at the center of everything they do.  We don’t want someone who can do a job – we want the best person. Yet we don’t look for “stars.” 

 The Role: 

We are looking for Full time & Part Time, Both. Please specify when applying. 

A typical day:

As a Store Manager, you will lead from the front, on the floor, not in an office. You will be visible on the floor, working with your team to achieve successful results every day. Your approach must be big picture while ensuring the daily deliverables are met. You will set the standard for excellence and be the "go-to" resource for any questions (big and small) as well as feedback (both praise and supportive). As the leader in the store, you are excited to know our brands and your customers. You have a clear understanding that our success rests with your customers. You'll work to help your team achieve targets, create a welcoming atmosphere, demonstrate efficiency, and ensure an outstanding-looking store with happy team members and customers are a daily deliverable.

About You:

You are action-oriented and take the initiative:

• A strong voice, an open mind, and an ability to respond rather than react. 
• Support and strive to achieve all store goals.
• Perform all operational elements of running the store, Sales, cash reconciliation, staff roster, Social Media posts, answering online queries & handle product returns & warranties.
• Merchandise the store: Maintain Display, barcoding, Stocktake, warehouse management & Adhoc.
• Manage Club & Individual Sponsorship and promote the brand by engaging more clubs and individuals through Sturdy’s Sponsorship program.

You value and demonstrate quality in all that you do:

• Ensure accuracy in all point-of-sale operations.
• Accurately fulfill online orders and inventory transfers and are careful to avoid errors.
• Practice security measures that help prevent theft and understand how to handle shoplifters safely. 
• Participate in all required training & assist in the exercise of fellow employees. 
• 1st point of contact for E-Commerce Manager. 
• Understanding of retail profit measures, the ability to manage costs, and productivity.
• You have a keen eye for the look and feel of your store and know that powerful visual merchandising, good habits, store cleanliness, and maintenance all support a strong business.

Technical Experience (Good to have):

• Retail Express - (ERP POS System)
•  Shopify - (Basic / Intermediate level)
•  Social Media posts - (Instagram pics & reels)
