Newcastle District Cricket Association and the Newcastle Junior Cricket Association join forces to establish the Newcastle Cricket Board

The Newcastle District Cricket Association (NDCA) and the Newcastle Junior Cricket Association (NJCA) have passed a motion to join forces to establish the Newcastle Cricket Board (NCB) as the leading cricket organisation in country NSW. This initiative aims to drive strategy and excellence in community sport outcomes through one professional administrative function that embraces the entire cricket ecosystem and leverages partners to execute ambitious outcomes for Newcastle Cricket and the community. The motion includes;

·       A defined path to create an entity known as 'Newcastle Cricket Board'

·       Once established, the NCB will recruit and employ a CEO of Newcastle Cricket.

·       NDCA and NJCA will continue to manage their respective competitions.

·       Key partners in this initiative are Cricket NSW, Local Governments and local businesses.

Key Deliverables

·       Build an infrastructure roadmap for elite and premier cricket

·       Lobby for elite cricket to come to region

·       Increase the profile of cricket to the community.

·       Produce more elite cricketers to inspire the next generation of boys and girls

·       Operational efficiency through a central administration

Rationale

·       Newcastle is the most populous regional City and the only one in the top 25 in Australia to not have hosted a men's Test Match, One Day International, WBBL, BBL.

·       NDCA and NJCA currently oversee 4,500+ players across 30+ clubs with matches scheduled 5 out of 7 days a week.

·       Female cricket is a large growth statistic 400%+ since 2020

·       NDCA and NJCA combined host National, state and regional Championships (Men & Women) and junior representative (Boys & Girls) carnivals each year.
