The Club introduced its new inductees into the "The Darts Club."
This is an elite group for Vets players who don't always get a bowl and maybe they shouldn't. Or maybe it's should as their "darts" often pick up wickets.
Congratulations to Andy Thomas from the Hunter, Darren Holz from Cessnock and finally from the Newcastle side Dwayne "Schnoz" Sharrock.
In finishing, the committee decided to create an award without the knowledge of its President.
The club would like to acknowledge an individual each year for a person's outstanding services to the Club. This in keeping with the Spirit of Cricket, the mateship, the battles that we as Veteran Cricketers go through.
Stephen Leathley is the clubs President and we have named this shield in his honour the "Stephen Leathley Shield." He is also our inaugural winner.
As many people would be aware Lethal started our club and has been the backbone ever since its inception 3 years ago.
This season he successfully arranged and managed the NSW Over 50s Veterans Division One State Championships in Newcastle. By all reports it was an outstanding success. Lethal’s commitment to the Vets game along with a very patient wife put him up as our first winner.
Congratulations Lethal
So much going on in the Veterans Cricket NSW over the next 12 months and our club is excited to be a part of it.
