Q: Congratulations to Robert Bedford - inducted into the Victorian Country Cricket League Hall of Fame today for services to Country Week and to Victorian Country Cricket at the Australian Country Cricket Championships.

Robert represented Victoria in eight Championships โ€“ the first tournament in Beenleigh (Qld) in 1985 โ€“ then 1988, 1989, 1992-1995 and 1999. During his ACCC career, he made 1746 runs @ 41.56 with a highest score of 127. In 1992 alone, he scored 433 runs @108 โ€“ an outstanding performance.

The dashing left-handed bat was twice selected in the Australian Country XI that played against India in Melbourne (1993) and against the NSW Shield team in 1994. Robert also represented Victoria Country against West Indies, Sri Lanka (twice) and Zimbabwe. He played Melbourne Country Week commencing in 1984 and represented the MPCA for 23 Years, played in eleven Premiership Teams and was Captain of six Mornington Peninsula winning teams.

A 14-time skipper, Robert won several MPCA best Country Week player awards and eventually was honoured by having the Country Week Best Player Award named after him.

On behalf of the Board of the MPCA and the MPCA cricket community, we say congratulations to you Robbie for this wonderful honour in recognition to the service given.

Q: Congratulations to Paul Bradley - inducted into the Victorian Country Cricket League Hall of Fame today for services to Country Week and to Victorian Country Cricket at the Australian Country Cricket Championships.

Paul attended 12 ACC Championships, seven as a player and five as a Coach. He first represented Victoria at Townsville in 1991 and returned to the team in 1999. Five more appearances as a player from 2004 until 2008 before beginning his five year coaching stint from 2009 to 2013. Paul played 33 matches, scoring 710 runs @ 23.67. His highest score was 108. question
Q: VALE PETER FINNEY

It is with sadness that the MPCA Board acknowledge the recent passing of one of the Peninsulaโ€™s finest cricketers and umpires, Peter Finney.

Peter made an incredible contribution to MPCA cricket as a player, coach, and umpire. He played for the Karingal Cricket Club for 8 seasons and spent 3 of those as Captain Coach. He then went on to Coach Heatherhill Cricket Club for two seasons and then coached the Heatherhill juniors for over 10 years. His efforts were recognised by Heatherhill when they awarded him Life Membership of the club. In his earlier days Peter also played Victoria Premier Cricket for Prahran as well as 10 seasons of cricket at Carnegie.

Peter spent an incredible 36 years as a cricket umpire, mainly in the MPCA, but he also umpired for two seasons in Premier Cricket. Highly regarded by all that had the pleasure to meet him, Peter will be sadly missed, but will always be remembered as one of the greats of the MPCA.

Our condolences go out to Peterโ€™s children Anitia, Gareth, Jacinta, Karina, Amber and all of his grandchildren.
Peterโ€™s funeral will be held at Tobin Brothers Mt Martha this Friday 31st May @ 2pm and followed by drinks at the Dava Hotel.
