My Activity

answered
Q: Do you recognise this ground from Sydney Grade Cricket and do you have a memorable moment you'd like to share from playing or watching a game at the ground?
A: Spent many an afternoon at Petersham Oval from the age of 1 to 12 following my father Ray Hall who played Grade Cricket with Petersham Marrickville in the summer and Baseball with both Petersham and Marrickville in the winter.
Some of the best afternoon teas with my Mum and understudy to the ladies who had been there forever baking fresh cakes and making sandwiches every week completing a feast for those luckily enough to be part of the game. I was always told to wait until the men had finished which was like torture for a kid with a sweet tooth!!
The Hartshorne’s, Bains, Chardon's, Sullivans and Hughes families were just some of the names that come to mind in my initiation to sporting Clubs and where friendships are formed.
• Brian Riley – When my Dad rushed me from the room after Riles was dismissed fearing for my safety
• Richard the Scorer
• The Scoreboard on the hill
• The advantage of a left-handed baseballer to reach the hill for a home run compared to a right hander.
As a family my parents were good friends with the Hughes family, and we would spend some evenings at their place for a BBQ with all the Hughes boys at home - hence the fact I have been a Bulldogs supporter for 50 Years!!
Was lucky enough to play there many years later and in those days it was a challenging wicket but brought back so many memories as a youngster.
