Hard to fathom why Travis Head is not playing in the first test for Australia v India. His recent form and being ranked number 4 Test batter in the world would suggest he least deserved the first opportunity in India

I disagree with you Paul….Travis head might be good against West Indies/Pakistan etc in Aus but against india especially in india, Handscomb is a much better bat and can play spin much better

Comments

Head averages 45 in Test Cricket and had a great summer.

Handscomb - 38 overall and only 29 in India
Renshaw - 33 overall and only 28 in India

It's not as if they've selected 2 batters who have demonstrably performed better. Head should've been given first go.

Head also provides the added benefit of tidy off spin bowling

I am sure that Travis head avg is not 45 against India…
