I'm 18 and bowl left arm orthodox. I'd like to ask where the teams best fielders should be fielding when the spinners are bowling?

Hi Talor, Murray Bennett here. I bowled left arm orthodox for many years and represented NSW & Australia through the 1980’s.
My opinion is there are 3 crucial fielding positions :
Slip - we need a player here with very safe hands who can turn 1/2 chances into catches
Extra cover - not too close to the batsman. This needs to be your fastest, most agile fielder. They can save many runs, take plenty of catches from lofted drives and exert a lot of pressure on the batsmen, which in turn will create wickets
Straight mid wicket - the same reasons as extra cover. This is your 2nd most agile fieldsman who again if your bowling at the stumps will get a lot of work and can exert pressure by restricting runs.
The best fielders should be where you expect most balls to be hit. If the wicket is not turning a lot then they will occupy straighter fielding positions, e.g. mid off, cover, mid on. If the wicket is turning then squarer positions on the offside for right handers, squarer leg side positions for left handers.
Hi Talor
Agree with Murray totally. You need to have one other quality fielder and that is you off your own bowling
Hi Talor being a left arm ortho bowler myself if the pitch is turning your slipper needs to have great hands and I have 2 covers one regulation one deeper off his shoulder if your not getting any turn then your straight fielders are very important mid on mid off not only good catchers but quick to the ball with good throwing arms to cut off the 2s. Left handers deep backward square for the sweep/lap short mid wicket needs to be agile to save singles. All the best 👍 mate keep working hard.
Awesome, won't get a more expert answer than this one!
Thank you Murray for the helpful advice and taking the time. I will share with the team to
