I’d like to ask why there seems to be a big push for Travis Head to be opening the batting in Test cricket.
He’s such a valuable player and scored all his runs at No 5. Just wondering why, the push to open?

I’ve heard people suggest he be used as opener in sub-continent maybe but not elsewhere. Too valuable counter punching at 5 and no point weakening 2 positions to fill one.

Brad, I agree wholeheartedly. His counterpunching at 5 is too valuable. We need a RH bat to open with Usman for a few years. Warner will be a liability in England, but world-class batsmen can come good at any time. Will he? I do not know, and that will be the major question asked of the selectors prior to the Ashes tour.

Agree. As we well know it is a different game in India.
